Couldn't see any other thread dealing with this so...

ANet have provided RSS feeds for news and updates, but it would be cool if they could provide some in-game feeds. For example, who currently has Favour of the Gods, current material/rune prices and dye prices.

Anyone else think this would be a good idea?

This could be a good idea, i do think XML/RSS should be optional though. I know XML isnt really a database, yet it would work easier for some. I was also thinking about asking for XML feed of guild members and thier stats. Like titles and such. Even if it was only the numbers towards titles then you could write IF functions in PHP to set them. I have dealt with feeds such as this in Battlefield 2 and in-game stats feeds. I have a PHP script for that. I also wrote an XML feed script for BF2S.com's XML feed for stats. So something like this would be great in any format or style.

Bad news is though i DO NOT think they would do it. This would open it up for hackers. Yet i do think it would be optional if they listed only the detailed stats copied to another database on a seperate server just for the feed.

Shouldn't be too hard to do as long as the info is there, and shouldn't be too easy to abuse if it's only getting data, like feeds normally do. No way of sending. Only real way of abusing I can really think of are DDoS-attacks.

Secure Network Routers and Firewalls (Multi-Layer) would make short work of that.

And I'm sure they already have that kind of protection in place.
